Unique Fundraiser Launched to Help Student Battling Rare Form of Cancer

An Escape Room Fundraiser at Peter Skene Ogden High School has been put together to help raise funds for a local kid battling a rare form of cancer.

Soon to be 15 year old Owen Ross, who celebrates his birthday on Halloween, is currently down in Vancouver with his family at Canuck Place fighting his battle with bone marrow cancer.

Natalie Sass, organizer of the Escape Room, has been a lifelong family friend to the Ross’ and wanted to do something special to help them through this trying time.

Sass breaks down what an Escape Room is.

“We have 2 rooms, one is the Cariboo Cabin. Your family is on a vacation and you’ve been snowed in and you have to look and find clues til you find all the puzzle pieces to figure out how you to get rescued out of the room. Our 2nd one is called the Mensa Challenge, and we have 6 puzzles that your team has to work through to get the keys to unlock your chains to escape the room.”

Sass says the reviews have been great so far and is a fun way to let loose after such a hectic summer.

The Escape Room will continue this weekend on Saturday and Sunday at the high school with proceeds going towards the Ross family.
