Court Order Halts Sale Of Marijuana In Quesnel

The City of Quesnel says the WeeMedical Dispensary Society, reacting to a court order, has agreed to stop selling marijuana or cannabis products.

Tanya Turner, the Director of Development Services for the City, says they were unable to grant a business license to the society because the retail sale of marijuana is currently illegal from business fronts.

She says now that the WeeMedical has agreed to stop doing that, a business license has been issued.

Turner says the City is waiting for federal and provincial legislation that legalizes and sets the parameters for regulating these products before considering how it might develop its land use and business licensing policies.
