Fall storm forecasted for the interior

There’s the potential for very strong wind gusts and intense thunderstorms as a fall storm is predicted to move across the Central Interior midday today.

Doug Lundquist is a Meteoroligist for Environment Canada.

“It’s really a quick moving system. What’s interesting about it is, usually when systems cross the interior of BC they die but this one is developing and when that happens it’s usually a recipe for some sort of significant weather and for us it’s probably going to mean some pretty gusty winds”.

Lindquist says the storm will make it very windy for the next 24 hours and that we may even have some thunderstorms and lightning accompanying it.

Lundquist went on to say that with this storm the freezing level is going to plummet and higher terrains could see some snow accumulating through the passes heading to the southern interior.
