A significant dump on snow overnight didn’t prevent some Quesnel runners from doing well at a High School Cross Country running event at West Fraser Park on Saturday.
Bazil Spencer from Correlieu was first across the finish line in Senior boys while Abby Fisher won the Senior girls race.
Hannah Vaughan-Ferrell edged out her teammate Amber Proudfoot by just 7 seconds to take the Junior girls race and Ruby Nicholas, from Quesnel Junior School, handily won the Bantam girls race.
Kyle Eggert was the runner-up in Bantam boys.
Christopher Henderson was second in the Junior boys race and the top elementary finishers were Gabriel Johnson and Monias Nault, both from Lakeview School, who finished 1-2 for the boys, and Claire Nicholas, who was second for the girls.
Claire goes to Red Bluff Lhtako.
