The B.C. government has announced a program to recognize British Columbians who made a difference in their communities during the 2017 wildfires and floods.
Premier John Horgan announced the Above and Beyond Awards program, where anyone in B.C. can be nominated to be acknowledged for the exemplary service they provided during the crisis.
“People deserve to be recognized for going above and beyond to help each other in the midst of this year’s devastating wildfires and floods,” says Premier Horgan.
“Those who opened their homes to people and pets, cooked meals for evacuees, and offered up comfort in a difficult time shows a true community spirit that needs to be celebrated.”
Everyone nominated will receive a certificate of distinction, signed by Premier Horgan.
The last day to submit a nomination is January 15th, 2018.
“It’s during times of adversity when you really see the true character and true spirit of community; and nowhere was that more evident than in Kamloops, in the Cariboo, and right up into Prince George,” says Horgan.
