October is off to a wet start, particularly in the North Cariboo.
“We’re already up to 27mm in Quesnel for example and we usually only get 53mm in the whole month of October so it’s looking wetter,” says meteorologist Doug Lundquist with Environment Canada.
“September was close to average in the north, drier in the south, and for October so far the north looks really wet.”
Lundquist says about 50 mm of rain was recorded in Quesnel last month and that the average is 50.
He says in Williams Lake meanwhile there was 38 mm of precipitation, and that we usually get 42mm.
Environment Canada is forecasting today flurries across the Cariboo, which Lundquist calls ‘a temporary taste of winter’ as it will only stay over higher ground and that it will warm up enough this afternoon to melt most of it.
He says that temperatures are definitely on the cold side and that the normal daytime temperature this time of year is between 10-12 degrees adding that we won’t back to that until early next week.
