What Would You Like To See In The Provincial Budget ?

Cariboo residents will get a chance this week to have some input on the 2018 Provincial Budget.

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will be in Prince George today (Oct 10) and in Williams Lake tomorrow.

All three provincial parties are represented on this committee.

Bob D’eith is the Chair.

He says they will be focused on three things when taking the information that people provide…

“How can we make life more affordable ? How can we improve the services ? and how can we make sure we have really great jobs that are sustainable and a great economy ? So we’re looking at those three areas primarily and trying to figure out what’s best in each area because obviously in Cariboo has been wildfires.”

D’eith says the information that they get will lead to recommendations…

“We put all of that together, which is a lot, and put some recommendations together for Carole James, the Minister of Finance, who will look at all of the suggestions from around the province, and then take those into considerations when she is putting together the budget that will be tabled in February/March.”

D’eith says they will also accept written suggestions before October 16th.

The meeting today in Prince George is from 2 until 6 pm in the Skylight ballroom at the Ramada.

The meeting tomorrow in Williams Lake is from 8am until 11am in room 119 of the Pioneer Complex.
