VP of Corporate Affairs confirms more potential layoffs

Good news on the nearing April 1st completion of Mt Polley’s breach site could be overshadowed by devastating layoffs.

Imperial Metals Vice President of Corporate Affairs Steve Robertson, spoke with us from the Prospectors & Developers Association Convention in Toronto yesterday.

As for where the submitted application for a partial restart is at Robertson did not give many details.

He says although he does not want to put a date on anything the company is continuing to work through their application requirements.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines had asked Imperial Metals to submit more detail on mid and long-term planning before any decision can be made late last week.

Imperial Metals had submitted an application for a 50% restart of operations at Mt. Polley on January 12th.

Thirty  Mt. Polley employees were laid off last month.
