A Quesnel City Councillor says when the decision was made back in the 90’s to change the direction of traffic downtown on Reid Street the parking was not changed correspondingly.
John Brisco says having angle parking on the right and parallel parking on the left is backwards and dangerous for the drivers trying to back out on the right.
He adds that people are taught to parallel park on the right and many people don’t do it well so they do it even less well on the left.
Brisco successfully made a motion to ask staff to come back with a report on the subject.
Councillor Scott Elliott, Council’s liaison with the local Business Associations, noted the importance of consultation in this process…
There is no timeline for when the report will come back to Council.
