Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes calls it another great story of how community members are coming together to help their neighbours.
Oakes says she met with the Lthako Dene First Nation Council and with Chief Clifford Lebrun yesterday the learned that they have been welcoming people from other parts of the Cariboo to come.
“Lhtako has places for tents, they are feeding people, come by for coffee, come by for a sense of community and a place to gather. And they’re setting that up, and like I said they brought in some cooks and they are preparing meals.”
Oakes says the band is accepting donations of water and food.
She says the idea is to not only keep people safe but give them a place to gather and know that they’re not alone.
