Cariboo Livestock Gets Helping Hand From Prince George

The Cariboo wildfires are bringing out the good in a lot of people, including a group in Prince George who are rescuing livestock on their own dime.

It is a 6 hour round trip when you factor in the need to bypass Highway 97 at Kersley.

Curt Wallach is with the Prince George Horse Society…

“We just had a lady that, she just headed off again, she has a 6 horse stock trailers, she just came in from Alberta, she had gathered up all kinds of food and granola bars and all those things and she brought all that down and she is making her second trip down to Williams Lake as I speak and she brought 6 horses back yesterday.”

Wallach says all people have to do if they want their livestock moved to the safety of Prince George is to get their animals to the Stampede Grounds in Williams Lake.

As for how people can help them help the animals, Wallach says they have lots of hay and water but gas cards would certainly be put to good use.
