Cariboo Residents Wanting To Donate Are Being Asked To Hold Off…For Now
Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson is suggesting that people willing to make donations to those affected by the wildfires in the area hold off for now.
He says while the sentiment is fully appreciated, it can actually do more harm than good at this point…
“We’re asking people to just wait until we understand better what people’s needs are. We can actually overwhelm the emergency response, the evaucaution support with donations that are unsolicited because then it becomes a management issue.
Simpson says he continues to be in contact with Prince George Mayor Lyn Hall and they will let people know when their help is needed and then they can provide an appropriate community response that meets people’s specific needs.
