Some People Now Being Evacuated Because Of Wild Fire At Alexandria

Quesnel RCMP are concerned about a wildfire burning in the North Cariboo this hour.

“The one that is a major concern to us at this point is near the Alexandria First Nations reserve. We have fires actually burning on both east and west sides of the Fraser River as well as near the Highway.”

Dodge says although there has been no evacuation order, police are conducting tactical evacuations advising residents of the potential risks and asking them to leave their homes at this time, for their safety…

“Anyone that has been displaced by the Alexandria fires are asked to go to the Rec Centre in Quesnel on North Star Road.”

Dodge says an Emergency Reception Centre has been set up.
