Dry and Hot Conditions to Persist this Summer

The beginning of a warmer than normal summer officially got underway Thursday according to Environment Canada.

Meteorologist Matt MacDonald says with the hot period, expect it to be dry as well.

“Williams Lake only picked up 9 mm of rain in June and that’s compared to the normal of 58 mm, so only about 15% of the normal rainfall this June. July has obviously been very dry so far and I don’t see much precipitation in site.”

MacDonald says they are encouraging people to be careful with campfires and wildfires, and to take it easy in the heat both today and tomorrow.

Temperatures are anticipated to break records in 100 Mile House and Williams Lake by reaching 32 degrees.
