Cariboo Cowgirls Steal The Headlines At BC Rodeo Stop In Bella Coola

A Quesnel cowgirl and a former Quesnel cowgirl dominated the Ladies Barrel Racing at a BC Rodeo stop in Bella Coola over the Canada Day weekend.

Brooke Wills, who now lives in Kamloops, was first and Mariah Mannering the runner-up on Saturday and the two then switched places on Sunday for 737 dollars each.

Allison Everett from 150 Mile enjoyed her Saturday winning both the Breakaway Roping and the Number 8 Team Roping along with Harley Antoine of Cache Creek for more than 618 dollars.

Still with Saturday…Cordell Pinchbeck from Williams Lake won the Bull Riding with an 82 on “FBGM” for 505 dollars.

Tyrone Hunlin, also from the Lake City, won the Bareback.

Also on Sunday, Williams Lake’s Clint Cripps and Quesnel’s Bud Lawlor captured the number 8 Team Roping for 236 dollars each.

Looking at some of the younger competitors.

Nikolas Boychuk from Quesnel and Micheal Gulbransen from Williams Lake each won the Junior Steer Riding on one of the day.

Brianna Billy from Williams Lake won the Junior Barrel Racing on Sunday.

Kira Stowell from Quesnel won Pee Wee Barrels on both days as well as the Junior Goat Tying and Pole Bending on Saturday.

Brock Everett from the 150 won the Goat Tying on Sunday.
