Some People Not Listening To Fire Restrictions In North Cariboo

The Fire Chief of the Barlow Creek Fire Department says some people are not complying with the fire ban that is currently in place.

Cody Dillabough reminds the public exactly what that restriction is…

“Currently we’re in a category 2 fire restriction, so anything outside of the campfire, that’s 1/2 metres by 1/2 metres, is prohibited which includes fireworks.”

Dillabough says they normally just educate people when they go over that size but he says a fine of up to 15-hundred dollars can also be imposed.

He says the costs could also escalate if a human caused fire causes damage.

The restrictions have been put in place by the Cariboo Fire Centre.
