Smoke free bylaw one step closer to being approved

A smoke-free bylaw could be adopted by the City of Williams Lake after Councilors unanimously gave 1st, 2nd, and 3rdĀ readings at their last regular council meeting.

City Planner Chris Hutton who authored the readings, says if adopted the bylaw will help foster a healthier community.

As for concerns on how the smoke-free bylaw which would focus on banning smoking on active public property in outdoor areas including bus shelters, playgrounds, and playing fields be implemented, Hutton says he is not worried.

The smoke-free bylaw will be brought forth for consideration by Williams Lake City Council on the 24th.
