Friday’s First Annual POPS in the Park in Williams Lake raised big funds for youth to get music lessons while showcasing local talent.
Sharon Hoffman is the secretary with the Community Arts Council of Williams Lake as well as one of the organizers of the event.
“We had a huge crowd, the barbecue was busy for hours and over the whole evening, there was a grand total of over $5,300 that came in. $3600 of that came from businesses and the rest was from the community members.”
Hoffman says the funds will go to the Boys and Girls Club who will distribute up to $300 a year for school students requiring financial aid for music lessons.
She says they will be sitting down to figure out how to do it even bigger and better next year.
