NDP: Accountability lacking in Mt. Polley investigative report

Accountability.

That, according to NDP leader John Horgan, is what is missing from Friday’s report saying the breach at the Mt. Polley mine tailings dam was caused by a failure to detect a weak layer in its foundation, likening the massive embankment to a “loaded gun.”

Horgan says someone has to be responsible when something like this happens…

Horgan says he believes the Liberal Government definitely played a role in this.

He says if the dam is not designed to protect the public interest then it is the obligation of the government to cease operations which Horgan says it had several opportunities to do…

Horgan says the Liberal Government also shouldn’t have waited for 6 months to inspect all of the other mines in the Province as it says it will do now.
