Firefighters Get Upper Hand On Fire Near Quesnel

Firefighters continue to make progress on the Pantage Lake wildfire 40 kilometres northwest of Quesnel.

Fire Information Officer Ellie Dupont has the latest…

“We have 17 firefighters out there today and there is 4 helicopters. they are strengthening all the lines around the perimeter of the fire so we’re saying right now that the fire at this point is being held.”

Dupont says it is 55 percent contained and as long as conditions don’t change dramatically she feels it will be completely contained in a day or two.

The size of the fire, at around 168 hectares, is virtually unchanged.

Dupont says any change is just due to the smoke clearing and getting a better look at it.
