Cariboo Fire Centre Crews respond to latest wildfire northwest of Quesnel

A new wildfire is burning in the Cariboo.

Fire Information Officer Natasha Broznitsky explains.

‘The Cariboo Fire Centre is currently responding to a wildfire approximately five kilometers south of Pantage Lake which is location 40 kilometres northwest of Quesnel. The fire was reported on June Fourth and currently covers around 80 hectres”.

Broznitsky says the fire is twenty-five percent contained and crews are now being supported by airtankers,a helicopter and heavy-duty equipment.

Thirty-seven firefighters are currently working to establish control lines around the perimeter.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
