A Quesnel student is a National Champion !
Avery Bell, from Correlieu Secondary, won the gold medal at the National Skills Competition for Secondary School Cabinet Making in Winnipeg on Friday.
He says the competition was stiff…
“We got the plan a few weeks before. We had to study it up and make sure you knew all the dimensions and have a game plan going into the competition or you wouldn’t be able to finish.”
Five students didn’t finish.
Bell says there wasn’t a lot of room for mistakes..
“We have to follow the plans that they give you, plus or minus one millimetre, and it was about four feet tall and about two feet long.”
Bell, who is now down in Burnaby at BCIT, plans to compete next year as a college student.
