The longest town in the Cariboo has some new signs welcoming motorists traveling both from the north and south.
A director with the Lac Lache Community Club, Brittany Wasstrom says the original signs had been put up in 1986.
“It was part of Expo 86 to have communities come up with slogans for their town. So the Lac La Hache Lions Club came up with the ‘longest town in the Cariboo’ and those signs have been up since then. One of them fell apart this past year and we decided it was probably time to replace them.”
Wasstrom says lots of members of the community have already told her that they’re happy to see the colorful signs which were designed by Kori McLeod installed by Schickworks on Tuesday.
The signs which cost a little over $2,000 were funded by the Club which is run and operated by volunteers with the Cariboo Regional District pitching as well.
