Recommendation to extend hours at Scout Island receives support

Access hours at Scout Island could be extended, after the City of Williams Lake supported a recommendation at their City Council meeting Tuesday night.

City Councillor Ivan Bonnell brought forth the original and later revised recommendation that will not remove the gate.

Bonnell, says he proposed the recommendation to try and mitigate a resolution at Dutch Point Road.

The recommendation which would not remove the gate at Scout Island, received the support of all Councillors, except Laurie Walters who had concerns of potential impacts to noise bylaws.

Access to Scout Island currently opens at 8 am and closes at dusk.

The City will be meeting with the Field Naturalists Society to further discuss if the recommendation to extend the access hours at Scout Island is possible.
