Williams Lake to Join Canadian Municipal Network on Crime Prevention

Williams Lake will soon become a member of the Canadian Municipal Network on Crime Prevention.

Williams Lake City Council approved in principle Tuesday a financial contribution of $500.00 per year which is required to become a member.

Manager of community safety, Dave Dickson says the discussion on the membership of the Lakecity arose when he was invited to a conference in Surrey early spring and met with the Managing Consultant of the network, Dr. Felix Munger.

“He was interested in some of the things we’re doing and this conference was promoting this coalition. It’s a number of cities, communities Canada-wide that come together, they collaborate, and they share best practices, material, expertise so that we can be better.”

Dickson says he himself believes that the restorative justice program in Williams Lake is second to none.

18 municipalities across the country are currently part of the network which will be holding a workshop in Waterloo, Ontario which Dickson was invited to attend.
