Quesnel Likely To Escape Major Flooding This Year

It is highly unlikely that Quesnel will see any major flooding this year.

That from Emergency Services Coordinator Sylvain Gauthier…

“Generally the beginning of June, that’s when we start getting into then high flow for the Fraser. Looking at the temperature over the next week in the low 20’s i don’t expect to much change in the water level.”

Gauthier says things can change if the weather changes dramatically but he says the Fraser is still more than two metres away from causing any concern.

He says the river generally only rises 3 to 4 inches every 12 hours even during high frechette periods.
