Crews Help with Flood Relief Efforts

It’s been a pretty quiet fire season so far in the Cariboo Chilcotin but fire crews have been busy elsewhere in the Province lending a helping hand.

According to Fire Information Officer Natasha Broznitsky some have been assigned to the Okanagan to assist with making sandbags.

“Currently we have 40 firefighters deployed for flood relief efforts. The remaining fire crews within the Cariboo Centre are available to respond to fires that may occur here.”

Due to the recent hot, dry weather, the fire danger rating in the Cariboo Fire Centre has increased over the weekend. It is now almost entirely moderate to high.
