Request for funds from Community of Likely receives CRD support

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) will be throwing their support behind the community of Likely and their four applications requesting funds for various projects.

Area F Director Joan Sorley, says the applications are one key part in supporting residents in making better use the facilities, community, and encouraging tourists to come back.

Sorley says the community will have to diversify because even if Mt. Polley reopens it will be operating in a limited capacity.

One of the 4 applications is requesting up to $2400 in funding through the Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) Fund to install a billboard on Highway 97 advertising the back road route from Likely to Barkerville with another requesting funds for a business facade improvement plan.

The CRD meanwhile approved $23,000 through the 2015 Community Hall Improvements for an installation of a potable water system at the Likely Community Hall.
