City cuts eight positions

Eight positions within the City Hall of Williams Lake have been deemed as redundant, after careful consideration and review.

Mayor Walt Cobb, says the decision was made as the City needs to reassess its operations keeping efficiency in mind to control costs.

The positions include four management positions (Managers of Economic Development, Social Development, Information and Technology, and Transportation and Building) and four union positions (Protective Services receptionist, Communications Coordinator, Bylaw Enforcement Officer, and a Planner).

Cobb says as difficult the decision was, the reorganization will help the City in targeting their goals of establishing new growth, and financial accountability for the budget 2015 budget process.

The next public budget meeting for the City of Williams Lake will take place Thursday evening at City Hall starting at 6.
