City Actively Exploring Options to Revoke License of Alleged  Illegal marihuana store

A business that Williams Lake RCMP allege was operating an illegal marijuana storefront could have their license revoked.

Mayor Walt Cobb says this the first time that the City has had to deal with such an incident.

He says there was no opportunity to not give them a license.

“The name Mary Jane is a red flag I guess, well it certainly was for me but the fact I know a lady named Mary Jane so you can’t preclude anything because their request was for glass and gifts. They had no indication on the business license that they were selling medical marijuana and anything else.”

Cobb says whether we agree with the rules or not, if it is against the law, it’s against the law.

RCMP said on Monday that investigators had gathered evidence of possible offences under the possible offences under the Criminal Code of Canada as well as the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

They say at this time marijuana is regulated as a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act which prohibits the importation, exportation, trafficking, cultivation/production, and possession of it or its derivatives.

Mary Jane’s Glass and Gifts was still open as of today.
