Relocation Site For Seasons House Is Raising Eyebrows

The repurposed shelter will be developed into a three-storey, 30-unit affordable housing project on a lot beside JD Meats on Elliott Street.

The old Child Development Centre site has also been purchased.

The area behind all of that is a known drug area known as “coconut grove.”

We asked Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes about the proposed location…

“It is an opportunity for us to look at how we can support an area that will now have mental health and addiction facility, the Friendship Centre is offering numerous programs, there is going to be training opportunities in that area, so we are turning an area that has been negative in the negative in the community to an area of community health and support.”

Oakes adds that this will be a completely new model from Seasons House.

The province is committing 6-million dollars towards the project.

We asked Mayor Bob Simpson about the location.

He says the City has yet to see anything from BC Housing.
