Prescribed Burn To Create Smoke and Flames North of Clinton

The BC Wildfire Service would like to inform the public that smoke and flames from a 13-hectare prescribed burn project may be visible in the South Cariboo during the month of April.

Natasha Broznitsky, Fire Information Officer with the BC Wildfire Service, let us know where the burn will be taking place.

“The location of this prescribed burn is just North of the Village of Clinton on the west side of highway 97.”

Broznitsky added that The Village of Clinton’s volunteer fire department will be closely monitoring the burn, along with help from BC Wildfire Service Staff.

The goal of this prescribed burn is to reduce wildfire threats near the Village of Clinton by reducing the amount of wood debris and other combustible material helping to slow the spread of wildfires.
