Smile…BC Transit May Be Watching

Two BC Transit buses in Quesnel will soon be equipped with closed-circuit TV cameras on them.

Jonathon Dyck, a Communications Manager for BC Transit, says it will happen sometime in April.

Here he explains why…

“These cameras are meant to do a couple of things, one is to deter inappropriate activity on the bus so that people know that there are cameras there that are available if needed to follow up and the second thing is to follow up if unfortunately an incident does occur on the bus.”

Dyck says that could be anything from a bus driver assault to an accident or even something that happens at a bus stop.

The cost is $10,750.
