2014 was a busy year for Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department

The Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department responded to a total of 349 calls for service in 2014.

That is one of several year-end stats that were released today.

That is almost exactly the same number of calls from the previous year.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Russell says they attended 12 house fires, up from just 4, and 3 business fires, compared to just 1 the previous year.

Russell says there were zero apartment fires, however, down from 5, and they also attended fewer mill fires…15 compared to just 7 last year.

He says they managed to save more than 103 million dollars worth of property in 2014.
