From last November to mid January there was no shortage of men and women who wanted to join fire crews.
Information Officer for the Cariboo Fire Centre Natasha Broznitsky explains how successful the recruitment campaign was.
“About 600 candidates were selected from 1100 applicants for interviews which took place across the province. Lucky candidates will be invited to complete the new recruitment boot camp which runs at the end of april beginning of may. And if successful in boot camp they will be offered positions to fill vacancies on crews throughout the province”.
Broznitsky said there is between 150 and 180 fire crew vacancies and 20 to 30 of those are in the Cariboo Fire Centre
