Drunk Driver to Blame for Power Outage

More information is now known regarding the MVI that left the 108 Mile Ranch and Lac La Hache without power last Friday afternoon.

Corporal Brian Lamb with the 100 Mile House RCMP says a vehicle travelling southbound left the highway and hit a power pole which actually caused the pole to break and fall.

“In speaking with the driver of the vehicle it was determined that there were some observations of alcohol use, and at that time a road side screening device test was conducted which resulted in a fail.”

Lamb says the driver was issued an immediate 90 day roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Power was out for several hours, affecting nearly 3000 people as a result of this incident.
