As the extreme winter weather continues to grip the Cariboo, schools within District 27 closed.
Superintendent Mark Thiessen says the closure wasn’t made lightly.
“I’ve been the Superintendent for two and a half years and I have not made the decision to close schools before.”
“This was a pretty extreme weather pattern that came in with freezing rain and ice pellets, so it definitely called for the decision to made today.”

Thiessen says he is unable to comment if the schools will reopen tomorrow.
Schools in District 28 are open although buses were not running this morning.
