Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department Gets A Boost

West Fraser Mills has donated a few pieces of equipment to the Quesnel Volunteer Fire Department.

Fire Chief Sylvain Gauthier…

“One of them is the jaws of life, electrical jaws of life, which will be used and can be used to rescue people from vehicles when they are tangled. We also used air bags, pneumatic airbags.”

Gauthier says they are used to lift heavy equipment and they can also be inserted into a narrow opening where other tools will not fit.

He says the final piece of equipment that was donated is a firefighting water monitor which Gauthier says will come in handy when fighting structural fires from a defensive attack.

The price of these items vary from 2 thousand dollars up to 14 thousand.
