Taseko’s Gibraltar Mines Ltd. has claimed the lowest injury-frequency rate within mining operations in the province.
The mine was recently awarded the John Ash Award for a third consecutive year.
Mining manager, Kelly Parker says they’re very proud to have received the prestigious award for mines that are operating over 1 million hours of work in a year
“Very proud of our Gibraltar employees for all of the work that they’ve been doing. A safe mine is a productive mine…There are lots of tools that we have, lots of policies that we do. Just real hard work from our workforce, looking over each other’s shoulders to make sure everyone is doing the job safely.”
Gibraltar had received the award with Teck Coal Ltd-Greenhills at the 55th Annual Mine Safety Awards held Monda in Victoria.
