Man with Dwarfism Hopes to Publish Children’s Book

It’s a story with the lesson that with effort and determination you can achieve what you put your mind to.

That’s what Riley Windeler from Horsefly has been writing for the past two years.

His book A Race For Timmy is based on his own life experience, a boy with dwarfism who has a passion for track and field and his journey to win an event for the first time.

“The experience of this story came from a true story from my life, from my first experience in a race at school. I didn’t know I was going to lose; I didn’t know I was going to fall that far behind. So it came from that and then I went to my first world games with Dwarf Athletics back in 2001 in Toronto where I did experience my first feeling of winning.”

Windeler is currently in the process of sending the book off to a publisher in Vancouver. He says if
his first publishing attempt is not successful that he will learn from that and keep trying.

“At this point I’d like to get this one out there. See what I can get, maybe start even taking the book into schools and teaching lessons from that that there are these differences but we are all the same in the end.”
