Lights ! Camera ! Action !

A movie will be shot in Barkerville and Cottonwood this spring.

James Douglas, the Manager of Visitor Experiences in Barkerville, is also an aspiring filmmaker.

He was given permission to adapt a Steven King short story called “The Doctor’s Case” which is an account of the one and only time Doctor Watson solved a case before Sherlock Holmes.

Douglas says they will be in the Cariboo in early May…

“We’re going to do some carriage scenes, hopefully, that’s out intent at Barkeville. There is a certain segment of the story that takes place between Watson and Holmes, inspector Lestrade and they are in a carriage between baker street and the crime scene.”

Douglas says they will also be using the paths in Cottonwood as sort of pakland in the background and then some interiors in Barkerville as well.

He says they will be using local actors including J.P. Winslow from Barkerville.

Others in the film will be Denise Crosby, who played Tasha Yar on Star Trek-The Next Generation and was the female lead in Steven King’s Pet Cemetary, and Micheal Coleman, who is a regular on ABC’s Once Upon A Time.

The film, provided they can raise the approximately 100-thousand dollars that’s needed, will be completed in October.
