Oakes Makes Budget Stop In Quesnel

Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes made a stop at Books and Company on Reid Street in Quesnel this morning to sell the Provincial budget.

Oakes talked about the area being on the cusp of a new gold rush…

“Barkerville Gold is going through a major expansion right now. We are on the cusp of an agreement with New Gold, Blackwater project. That project alone is 1600 construction jobs, four to five hundred long term, good paying jobs.”

Oakes says she has mapped out 2600 potential new jobs in the area when you add in some other major projects that are going to happen and she says small business will also benefit from those major projects.

Other highlights that Oakes touched on today included infrastructure announcements that would be coming very soon as well as the goodies in the budget for small business…the lowering of the small business tax and the announcement that PST on electricity would be eliminated.
