Police Use Taser In 100 Mile House

A member of the 100 Mile House RCMP had to use his taser to make an arrest after he and other members were being threatened with a weapon.

Corporal Brian Lamb says a 51-year old man, who had a warrant out for his arrest for Mischief, was observed on Friday walking along Highway 97 near 103 Mile.

Lamb says the suspect then ran into the woods, the members followed and informed him that he was under arrest…

“At that point the male brandished a weapon, which was described as a long piece of wood with numerous metal spikes nailed through the tip of it. The male made threats against the members and approached in a threatening manner.”

Lamb says at that point several verbal commands were given to the male to drop the weapon which he ignored.

He says that’s when a conducted energy weapon was used and the suspect was taken into custody.

Lamb says the suspect was not injured and is scheduled to appear in court today on charges of Assaulting a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
