Crime Reduction Officers To be on the Ground By April

Four crime reduction officers and two First Nations policing officers will be arriving to the region in part of last week’s public safety funding boost.

Jeff Pelley is the Inspector for the Williams Lake RCMP Detachment.

“They’re going to be flexible in nature and have both covert and uniform capabilities and will focus on specific crimes, prolific offenders, and social chronics that evidence shows are responsible for the greatest impact on our crime rate and are a public concern.”

Pelley says he hopes to have 3 officers on the ground by the end of April if not sooner, with the additional one as well as two First Nation Officers by the fall of this year.
