Over 18 to be Screened in Williams Lake

A Canadian documentary that tackles an issue that a lot of people would rather ignore will be screened in Williams Lake.

Screening host, Emily Epp says the Mosaic Church, Williams Lake Alliance Church, and Paradise Cinemas are co-hosting the film-Over 18.

“That is the effects of pornography on children and youth…Our goal is to open up the conversation around pornography in our community and highlight how addictive it is and how vulnerable kids in our community are to violent sexual content online.”

Epp says there will be a panel discussion with local professionals including the Boys and Girls Club, and RCMP following the screening.

According to statistics, 9 out of 10 boys view pornography with the average age of exposure being just 12 years old. An estimated 60% of girls have seen porn by the age of 18.

The public screening takes place at Paradise Cinemas on Wednesday, March 8. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the film starts at 6 p.m.

Admission is by a suggested donation of $10 with the event proceeds being donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Williams Lake.
