New Year optimism

The Mayor of Williams Lake is looking forward to ring in the New Year with more sweeping changes.

Walt Cobb says one of the biggest changes that was brought forth this year since he took office following the November 15th election was Council’s decision to reactivate the economic development Corporation.

“We hope to have that finalized and the first meeting in January, we will take it to Council and work with it from there and get input or names put forward from the general public.”

Although some, including Councillor Laurie Walters, have expressed concern that the City is moving too fast Cobb says it is necessary and adds that the City cannot sit around and wait.

Cobb adds that he is anticipating 2015 to be a great year for the City.

“I hope to able to with the Economic Development Corporation, of course, to get some economic activities happening in our community and get some revitalization happening.”

“I’m really optimistic about 2015 and am really looking forward to getting things done.”

The 1st Regular Williams Lake City Council meeting of 2015 is scheduled for January 13th.
