Snow crews on standby as City rings in New Year with two holidays

With residents of Williams Lake getting an extra day off to partake in what is locally known as Wrestling Day, City crews will be on standby should there be a significant snowfall.

Gary Muraca, Director of Municipal Services, says even though most crews will not be at work, they will be able to move in short notice to ensure adequate snow coverage over the extended holiday break.

Wrestling Day which according to local stories began back in the late 1930s by two downtown merchants has been officially celebrated by the City since 1942.
