Public Comment on Proposed Law Changes for Farm Animal Transport Closes Today

Today is the last day to submit your comments to the Canadian government on proposed changes to laws surrounding the Transport of Farm Animals.

Branch Manager for the Williams Lake and District SPCA, Elizabeth Dighton says figures on the topic, surprised her.

“I was not aware just how many animals we move and then seeing that 1.59 million animals reported dead on arrival, what a waste and how unfair is that? Obviously we are not doing something right.”

An estimated 700 million animals are transported per year in Canada with 14 million suffering from transporters not following the current law.

You can read the draft transport regulations and tell Government what animals deserve here.
