Suspects charged in Anahim double homicide make court appearances

Five of six people charged in connection with a double homicide in Anahim Lake have now appeared in court in Williams Lake.

25-year old Serena Rhem, charged with two counts of 2nd Degree Murder, will be back in court tomorrow for a bail hearing along with 33-year old Lucille Mack and 22-year old Stephen Mecham, who are facing two counts each of Manslaughter.

28-year old Christian Craciun and 25-year old Andrew Jongbloets, charged with 2nd Degree Murder, also appeared yesterday.

Craciun is back in court today while Youngbloets will appear again on January 14th.

27-year old Everett O’Reilly, the only one charged with First Degree Murder, will make his first court appearance today.

All are charged in connection with the deaths of 23-year old Mathew Hennigar and 22-year old Kalvin Andy.

RCMP received a report just before midnight on Boxing Day of shots fired at a residence in the 2100 block of Dorsey Road in Anahim Lake.

No other details have been released.

Garbage truck fire gets put out quickly in Quesnel, one in hospital

A garbage truck caught on fire on Larch Avenue off Highway 97 in South Quesnel. The Quesnel Fire Chief says the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but otherwise is okay.
