Ladies Put On Curling Clinic In Quesnel

A local rink captured the 57th annual ladies ‘Wheel n’ Spiel’ in Quesnel.

Lori Freeman, Lynn Mamic, Debbie Dinsdale and Carly Backer claimed this year’s title.

They defeated the Brenda Ernst foursome 10-7 in the championship game.

Ernest led 7-6 but gave up 4 in the 7th end.

The Louise Scott rink won the B final.

Louise, with the hammer in the 9th end but facing a couple of guards up front, managed to bounce off a rock at the side of the 12-foot to score one for a 6-5 win over Evelyn Lawson.

Bragging rights in the C final went to Jenny Rubish.

That game was also extremely tight as Rubish needed a raise of her own rock in the 7th end to defeat Dana Johansen 8-7.

A total of 21 rinks took part in this year’s event.
